Tree-Free Charcoal is an innovative clean energy initiative that aims to produce alternative cooking fuel from agricultural residues and suitable non-wood organic waste, such as sisal waste, rice husks, maize residues, and sugarcane bagasse.
We are a non-profit organization based in the Handeni District of Tanzania, deeply committed to protecting our community and the environment. Currently, we are actively engaging in conservation efforts by planting indigenous trees in the damaged Tarawe and Serewa Forest Reserves. Our goal is to restore these vital natural habitats and bring back the diverse species that have been lost over the years.
Additionally, we are promoting environmental stewardship by planting fruit trees on reserved lands within public schools throughout the Handeni District, helping both the environment and local youth.
You are warmly invited to join us in our mission to protect and restore our world 🌍🌎.
We focus on sustainable development through environmental conservation, clean energy, and providing access to basic human needs.

The Diploma in the Pocket Project, implemented by Inuka Youth Development Organization with support from Tankid Organization, aims to improve access to education and strengthen the economic well-being of low-income families in Handeni District, Tanzania.
Implemented with support from Off-gridSun and Eni, this project protects the environment and improves family health in Handeni District by promoting improved cookstoves that cut firewood consumption, protect forests, and minimize harmful indoor smoke.
We are actively mobilizing sponsors and partners to fund the construction of clean water wells in Mazingara, Kwediseni, and Luguluni villages, bringing reliable water closer to homes, preventing waterborne diseases, and boosting school attendance.
Restoring degraded natural forests across Selewa, Mt. Kofi, and Talawe Forest Reserves through community participation, while planting fruit trees in public schools to support biodiversity, combat deforestation, and create greener learning spaces.
Proper maintenance of clean cookstoves is essential to ensure their efficiency, durability, and long-term benefits for households.
Inuka Youth Development Organization has conducted training on kitchen test performance for the project team and field facilitators.
We are pleased to announce the successful completion of the distribution of improved cookstoves under our clean cooking initiative.
Working together towards a sustainable and equitable future for all.

We promote fruit tree planting in public schools to create greener learning environments, improve environmental awareness, support biodiversity, and provide future nutritional benefits for school children.
Diploma in the Pocket is an integrated education and family-livelihood initiative supported by Tankid Organization and implemented by Inuka Youth Development Organization. It supports 32 students from ten lower-income families with essential school requirements, learning materials, and food at school, while also helping their families strengthen their livelihoods through seed capital for income-generating activities.
We emphasize regular follow-up visits, transparent communication with families, encouragement of consistent school attendance and academic progress, and activities that foster confidence, friendship, personal development, and positive community relationships.
Through our Income Generation Activities (IGA) program, we support eligible lower-income families and individuals to develop sustainable livelihood opportunities, including small local businesses and agricultural ventures, tailored to their household needs and approved plans.

The core mission of the Inuka Youth Development Organization is to empower young people in both their personal and professional lives. We provide the opportunities and resources necessary to help youth build confidence, resilience, and leadership skills. Through a variety of targeted activities, we promote positive development via mentorship programs, career guidance, entrepreneurship training, and life skills workshops.
We place a strong emphasis on community education by raising awareness on how to maximize local resources, fostering business and management skills, and promoting environmental conservation.
By championing social innovation and advocating for youth rights and inclusion, we encourage active community engagement. We collaborate closely with schools, government institutions, and community organizations to build effective, sustainable initiatives.
Ultimately, our goal is to equip the next generation with the skills, knowledge, and support systems they need to overcome challenges, realize their full potential, and make a meaningful impact on society.
Through the dedication of our team, we have built strong relationships with local communities and government departments. We secure written agreements that establish forest management committees and guarantee perpetual forest protection.
Most of our forest restoration projects take place on government-owned land that is managed directly by the local community.
We are committed to creating permanent, sustainable forests. We secure written agreements with all levels of government to protect restoration sites in perpetuity, and we strictly avoid planting in logging areas. By hiring local community members to plant the trees, we help alleviate poverty while fostering a strong sense of ownership. To further protect the restored forests, we plant agroforestry species (for fruit, fodder, and construction) to provide sustainable income, and we supply alternative fuel sources like improved cookstoves and tree-free charcoal. Ultimately, communities develop a deep appreciation for their forests as they experience the benefits of cleaner water, improved farming, and new microenterprise opportunities.
We plant a diverse mix of native tree species and strictly avoid introducing any invasive species. We also include a percentage of agroforestry species for sustainable community use, which provides tangible benefits to locals and prevents the need to harvest from newly restored forests.
We forage most of our seeds from nearby remnant forests. When necessary, we supplement our supply by purchasing from trusted local seed banks. We do not buy seedlings; instead, we grow them in our own nurseries to ensure high quality and optimal germination rates.
We are a registered Non-Profit Organization (Registration No. 21NGO/R/2977 – Tax TIN 155-934-999). Donations may be tax-deductible depending on your country's specific tax regulations. We are happy to provide an official tax receipt for all contributions.
